Position Summary

Based out of either our Halifax, New Glasgow, or Mississauga offices, the Project Manager, IT is responsible for providing successfully delivering continuous improvement through process and technology-related projects on time and within budget. The Project Manager, IT, will work closely with stakeholders across the organization to define project objectives, develop project plans, allocate resources, provide status updates, and facilitate general process improvement and efficiency initiatives enterprise wide. Additionally, the Project Manager, IT:

  • Leads and supports stakeholders across the organization to increase efficiency in their work processes and flows, monitoring emerging areas and best practices in process improvement, enhancing processes through technology, and bringing learning to the organization.
  • Develops comprehensive project plans outlining project charters, objectives, scope, deliverables, milestones, timelines, budget, and resource requirements. Monitors project progress and performance and takes corrective action as necessary to address deviations from the project plan.
  • Gathers data, performs analysis, and make recommendations for continuous improvement initiatives aligned to business strategy.
  • Coordinates with stakeholders to define project requirements and obtain necessary approvals, managing stakeholder expectations, ensuring alignment between project goals and business objectives, and ensuring robust change management plans are developed and actioned.
  • Coordinates with department leaders to assign project team members and vendors as needed, providing guidance and support to project team members, and facilitating collaboration across departments.
  • Creates and refines metrics across various business processes, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives. Drives the identification of key performance indicators (KPIs) specifically for projects, processes, and/or technology enablement.
  • Communicates project status, progress, and issues to stakeholders through regular status updates, meetings, and reports, acting as a liaison between project teams and key stakeholder groups to ensure clear communications and resolve conflicts.
  • Implements risk management strategies to identify, assess, and mitigate project risks.
  • Maintains accurate project documentation, including project plans, schedules, budgets, dashboards, and status reports, preparing regular progress reports and presentations for stakeholders and senior management.
  • Conducts post-project reviews to evaluate project outcomes, identify lessons learned, and make recommendations for process improvements.
  • Recommends methodologies and creates tools focused on enhancing process optimization and project management practices in the organization.
  • Engages across all levels of the organization to create and promote a safe and respectful work environment.
  • Other special projects and tasks as assigned.

The profile we are looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Project Management, Business, Management, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years’ experience in a project management or similar role, managing delivery of complex projects from initiation to closure.
  • Strong understanding of process optimization and project management methodologies, tools, and techniques.
  • Certification in Project Management, Lean, Six Sigma, or other related areas is an asset. Willingness to become certified is required.
  • Excellent leadership, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and managing stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience coaching others through process redesign, project delivery and technology enablement.
  • Strong ability to lead and direct others without having direct authority.
