Crombie is excited to share that Scotia Square in Halifax has been certified as the first BOMA BEST Platinum office complex in Nova Scotia. This third-party recognition of their sustainability efforts comes after 20 years of work to reduce their carbon footprint and offer best-in-class properties and services.

This latest accomplishment is added to an already long list of accolades. Their first BOMA BEST certification was in 2010, and was the result of work completed between 2000 and 2010 to reduce energy and water consumption and improve waste diversion. Since then, they’ve held BOMA BEST Gold certification, and won numerous other awards, including multiple BOMA Nova Scotia Awards of Excellence and BOMA Canada’s National TOBY (The Outstanding Building of the Year) Award. Scotia Square has also been named a Carbon Hero by EcoPilot for work done in Cogswell Tower, Duke Tower, Barrington Tower, and Scotia Square retail.

The Scotia Square team firmly believes this certification is a “community win”. “We extend a huge thank you to our team for this prestigious achievement,” says Terry Doran, Vice President Office Properties. “Our clients, tenants, partners, suppliers, and our community also contribute every day to advancing our sustainability efforts. We couldn’t do it without them.”
