Position Summary
Based out of Halifax or New Glasgow, NS or Mississauga, ON, the Director, Enterprise PMO & Technology is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership for Crombie’s technology function, project management office (PMO), and business process optimization initiatives. The Director, Enterprise PMO & Technology is responsible for shaping and executing the IT and digital strategy, ensuring technology investments enable business goals, enhance efficiency, and safeguard information assets. The Director leads enterprise technology planning, cybersecurity, vendor management, and project governance to deliver high-performing, secure, and cost-effective solutions that support organizational growth and innovation. Additional duties of the Director, Enterprise PMO & Technology include but are not limited to:
- Develops and executes Crombie’s technology strategy, consistent with the organization’s strategic priorities, ensuring Crombie’s business needs are effectively represented and advocated for in collaboration with Sobeys, across infrastructure and architecture, cybersecurity, enterprise systems, and data governance.
- Partners with business leaders to identify technology and process improvement opportunities that enhance performance, reduce risk, and create value.
- Leads strategic planning for IT investments, resource allocation, and future capability development.
- Directs the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of IT systems, applications, and infrastructure to ensure reliability, scalability, and security.
- Drives optimal use of enterprise systems by promoting user education, developing training materials or resources, and ensuring consistent understanding of system capabilities and best practices.
- Establishes and maintains robust cybersecurity policies, controls, and incident response plans to protect Crombie’s data and systems.
- Implements and monitors technology performance metrics.
- Monitors operating cost system effectiveness to drive ongoing optimization and innovation.
- Oversees the enterprise project management office (PMO), ensuring disciplined project selection, prioritization, and delivery aligned with Crombie’s strategic objectives.
- Oversees portfolio governance, ensuring transparent reporting on project health, risks, and progress.
- Champions standardized methodologies, tools, and templates for project delivery to improve operational efficiency, accountability, and user experience.
- Drives cross-functional collaboration to ensure successful delivery of technology and business transformation initiatives.
- Leads Crombie’s technology vendor management strategy, including vendor selection, contract negotiation, performance management, and risk assessment.
- Optimizes vendor relationships to ensure cost-effectiveness, innovation, and alignment with business needs.
- Promotes a culture of innovation and digital enablement across the organization.
- Develops and tracks performance metrics to measure progress and impact of optimization initiatives.
- Fosters strong partnerships with executives, department leaders, end users and external stakeholders to ensure alignment, transparency, and service excellence.
- Communications technology strategy, progress, and outcomes in clear, business-focused terms.
- People Leadership
- Ensures all team members have a clear understanding of corporate and departmental objectives and are held accountable to meet performance standards and objectives.
- Leads a team that is strategically aligned with and understands the organization’s strategy, is engaged, and represents Crombie guiding values.
- Engages across all levels of the organization to create and promote a safe and respectful work environment.
- Other special projects and tasks as assigned.
The profile we are looking for
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related discipline.
- Relevant certification (e.g., PMP, ITIL, CISM, LSS Blackbelt) is an asset.
- At least 10 years of progressive experience in IT leadership, including responsibility for project management, cybersecurity, and vendor management.
- Proven track record of delivering enterprise technology strategies, leading business transformation initiatives, and managing cross-functional teams.
- Strong strategic thinking, financial acumen, and ability to translate technical concepts into business value.
