Position Summary

Based out of New Glasgow or Halifax, NS, the Financial Analyst is accountable for providing analytical support to Crombie’s Financial Analysis and Treasury department. This role has key exposure across all lines of our business and is responsible for providing analytical support for the development and management of financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.  Additional duties of the Financial Analyst include but are not limited to:

  • Works collaboratively with all key stakeholder groups, including management to understand business objectives, and align with financial and operational strategy.
  • Plays a critical role in capital forecasting and preparing various presentations to the board, Senior Management, and other key stakeholders.
  • Works collaboratively with all key stakeholder groups, including management, in preparation of public documents, related to development disclosure (MD&A, AIF etc.).
  • Provides strategic financial and analytical support/coordination to maximize value creation for Crombie REIT.
  • Organizes and prepares all reporting as required.
  • Performs ad hoc analysis and reporting as required.
  • Conducts ad hoc strategic insight research and analysis.
  • Researches and supports monitoring and analysis in review of various Crombie KPIs, ensuring all relevant databases/reports are maintained and accurate.
  • Is a Superuser of Job Cost system, working with departments throughout organization as necessary to ensure proper utilization of the tool for capital tracking purposes.
  • Works collaboratively supporting the information gathering and drafting of various finance and disclosure materials, including quarterly reports, annual information forms and proxy circulars.
  • Helps prepare various department documents and presentations.
  • Supports other departmental functions as necessary.
  • Engages across all levels of the organization to create and promote a safe and respectful work environment.
  • Other special projects and tasks as assigned.

The profile we are looking for

Our ideal candidate has an undergraduate degree in finance, business or related discipline with a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a similar role. They have, or are working towards, their CFA, CBV, or CPA. The successful candidate is a self-starter with experience working in fast-paced, cross-functional, and cross-team environments. They have the ability to manage a complex workload and are able to prioritize appropriately. They have excellent analytical and problem-solving ability, with extreme attention to detail and strong organizational skills. They have advanced working knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Word, online and research tools, and take pride in their strong interpersonal communication skills, both informal and in presentation. Knowledge of real estate, capital markets, market drivers and economic trends are key to the success in this role. The successful candidate also understands and has the ability to maintain confidential information.
